About me :

My name is Claire and I'm a qualified person centred counsellor.  My experience has shown me that by working on how we self-reflect and having an understanding of our personal processes, feelings and motivations, we can strive to improve our mental health and promote a positive sense of wellbeing.  Through my client work, either working on a one to one basis or online, I believe that therapy can provide a safe space for people to feel supported and safe to explore how they feel.

I believe that the aim of therapy is to enable people to build confidence in the idea that they have the tools to work through their distress.  They just need to make sense of how to use these tools.   My aim is to walk beside you. To offer an empathic and non-judgemental space where you can share your burdens and to create a space that allows you to feel safe and able to begin to heal.

I am trained to work within the Person Centred modality having graduated from Anglia Ruskin University.  I am able to work with all and have specialist knowledge working with young adults and children using techniques such as play and creative therapy.  I am registered and bound by the ethics of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I have worked in the education sector for 15 years where I specialised in working with young people that are neurodiverse.  During this time I have developed an understanding of diverse needs and the skills to work alongside the therapy that I offer. With this in mind and, if the client chooses, I offer working creatively using sand, drawing and sensory tools alongside offering a person centred approach.  Combining creative play along with counselling can be especially helpful for young people who struggle to articulate how they are feeling and an incredibly powerful technique to promote a positive outcome.
